RECREATION AND PARKS ADVISORY BOARD

The Recreation and Parks Advisory Board is authorized by Chapter 37 of the Dorchester County Code, repealed/reenacted by Bill No 2017-8. Board members are appointed by the County Council and are non-district appointments.

Membership

The board consists of ten members; one member must be the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee; one member must be a County Council Member 

Term

4 years

Meetings

Held on the third Wednesday of each month September through May, no meetings held in June, July or August. Special meetings are called during the summer months if needed.

Duties

Advises the County Council as to general policy relating to public recreation and parks in or for Dorchester County, including a comprehensive program of public recreation in schools, parks or other lands or buildings, either publicly or privately owned, or other acceptable recreational facilities made available to the County Council
