Correctional Officer I, Trained Starting Salary $38,408 annual + Signing Bonus
Full time with Benefits
These are full time positions with full County benefits. Correctional Officers are required to work shift work, including nights, weekends and holidays.
Entry level Correctional Officers are assigned to the Dorchester County Detention Center at Fieldcrest Drive. They may be assigned to any shift. Correctional Officers are responsible for the enforcement of rules, regulations and laws governing custody, security, conduct, discipline, safety and general well-being of inmates. If hired and not a trained Correctional Officer the applicant will be required to complete the required training in order to become a Correctional Officer I.
You must be a certified Correctional Officer to be hired as a CO I. SIGNING BONUS
You must be 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED. Must be a U.S. Citizen with good moral character.
A complete background investigation, including criminal, credit and driving record will be conducted on all applicants. PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU MUST COMPLETE ALL SECTIONS OF THE APPLICATION OR IT MAY BE CONSIDERED AS INCOMPLETE AND MAY NOT BE CONSIDERED. Applicants, if selected, MAY be given a conditional offer of employment contingent upon the satisfactory results of a medical, drug and psychological examination, as well as the results of the background investigations.

Signing Bonus Information: $2,000 upon approved hire. Must sign a 2 year contract. Receive $1,500 at end of satisfactory completion of probation. Receive $1,500 upon completion of 2nd year of contract.
