HOLIDAY NOTICE:

The Beulah Landfill and Landfill Transfer stations will be closed for Thanksgiving Day and the Day after (November 23rd and 24th.) They will be open normal hours on Saturday.

Dorchester County Department of Public Works Landfill Transfer Station Changes Effective January 2, 2024:

The following Landfill Transfer Stations are amending their days and hours of operations: Golden Hill, Secretary and Chesapeake Drive.  Operation hours will be Tuesday through Saturday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm only. These locations will only accept trash and recycling during the new hours.  The Chesapeake Drive location will also accept residential bagged trash effective January 2, 2024.  There are no changes to the Neck District location at this time.
Permits are required for residential trash and will available on location once fully operational.  Recycling is still free of charge.

It is important that when recycling, you ensure your recyclables are empty, clean, and dry.

Paper Recycling

Did you know paper makes up nearly 30 percent of waste generated each year?

Recycle envelopes, office paper, junk mail, greeting cards and file folders. Shredded paper should be put in a paper bag.

  • Junk mail
  • Phone books
  • Brochures
  • Magazines

Cardboard Recycling.

Please be kind and breakdown your boxes to make more room.

Did you know greasy pizza boxes are not recyclable?

You can also include newspaper inserts, catalogs, paperback books, phone books and brochures.

  • Poster board
  • Frozen food boxes
  • Cardboard boxes
  • Milk cartons

Plastic Recycling

Did you know recycling just ten plastic bottles saves enough energy to power a laptop for more than 25 hours?

Recycle plastics #1 thru #7. Look on the bottom of containers for a number inside the recycling arrows.

Acceptable Items

  • Milk jugs (no cartons)
  • Water/Soda containers
  • Shampoo/Soap/Detergent bottles

Aluminum/Metal Recycling

Did you know recycling just one ton of aluminum cans conserves more than 1,024 gallons of gasoline?

Recycle all food and beverage metal cans – steel, tin, bi-metal and aluminum.

  • Scrap metal

Glass Recycling

Recycle clear and colored glass.
