Dorchester County 911 Center is an integrated primary 911 answering point and dispatch center, with responsibilities for law enforcement, fire, and EMS communications. Employees are required to work shift work as the Center operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Employees will be required to work nights, weekends and holidays. Employees operate a fully enhanced system where they view both the telephone number and address of where the call is originating.
For Certified ECS: Applicants must have current ETC, EMD, EPD, and EFD certifications (will receive $2,000 immediate bonus upon hire at signing of 2 year contract). Prefer at least two years’ experience dispatching.
In order to be eligible for the immediate $2,000 signing bonus, individuals will be required to sign a two-year contract committing to work for Dorchester County Department of Emergency Services 911 Center, possess current ETC, EMD, and EFD certifications, and have 2 years of experience in 911 dispatching. Upon satisfactory completion of probation will receive an additional $1,500 bonus and upon the satisfactory completion of 2 full years as a 911 dispatcher will receive an additional $1,500 bonus.
For all positions: A complete background investigation will be conducted to include police/criminal, medical exam, drug screening and possible psychological exam in order to determine ability to perform job related functions.
