FOREST CONSERVATION ACT/CRITICAL AREA
ENVIRONMENTAL PLANNER

Salary Commensurate with Experience
To assist the Director and Assistant Director in daily operations of the Department by performing a variety of routine and complex administrative, technical, and professional services involving development and implementation of County Forest Conservation Act and Critical Area Programs.
Graduation from an accredited four–year College or University with a degree in Environmental or Land Use Planning, Landscape Architecture, Forestry or closely related field is required.
Experience and familiarity with Forest Conservation Act and Critical Area Law is a plus.
Knowledge of zoning and subdivision laws, and comprehensive planning documents including their formation, process of adoption and enforcement; extensive knowledge of planning programs and processes; basic knowledge of land use law and environmental law as it affects land use; basic knowledge of geometry and statistics is necessary to be successful in this position.
Knowledge of wetland indicator species, hydric soil characteristics and Critical Area laws with the ability to interpret ordinances.
The ability to communicate effectively with architects, contractors, developers, owners, supervisors, employees and the general public; ability to establish effective working relationships; ability to interpret ordinances is also necessary to be successful in this position.
Knowledge and experience in using office equipment, such as computers, copiers, etc.
