Emergency Management/Homeland Security Planner

Minimum Starting Salary $45,694 – $50,438

This is a grant funded position. Responsibilities include working with a multi-agency team on improving our capabilities to manage the consequences of a terrorism event and other emergency management activities. This position is responsible for the technical planning related to emergency management and domestic preparedness. This includes developing plans to include technical assistance in development of protocols, guidelines and policies that promote interoperability and situational awareness within the County. This position is responsible for the development, composition and updates of emergency response plans for County government. This position reports directly to the Emergency Services Director. This position required critical thinking, organizational skills, strategic planning skills, as well as problem solving skills.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: HS/GED
Bachelor’s Degree in emergency management, public safety or related field is preferred.

Experience: 1 -2 years of experience in emergency management or related position.

Proficient computer skills with knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet/excel, outlook, database software is required.
Certification from International Association of Emergency Managers is preferred.
Good knowledge of emergency management services and disaster planning and all applicable federal, state and local laws is necessary to be successful.

Licenses, Registrations, Certifications and Other Special Requirements:
A valid Maryland Driver’s license
Certification from International Association of Emergency Managers is preferred.
